Your Route

The Journey to Namche Terrace

Reach Kathmandu

Fly into Kathmandu’s KTM Airport. Most trekkers arrive 1–2 days early for permits, gear, and acclimatisation before heading to the mountains.

Fly to Lukla

Trek Toward Namche

From Lukla, trek via Phakding to Namche Bazaar through the Dudh Koshi valley. A scenic 2–3 day walk in the Khumbu region.

Practical Advice

Before You Arrive

Five things every trekker should know before reaching Namche.

01

Start Early

Mountain flights depart at dawn. Aim to be at the airport by 5–6am and keep your first few trekking days unhurried.

02

Expect Weather Changes

Himalayan weather is unpredictable. Pack layers, a waterproof shell, and build flexibility into your schedule.

03

Carry the Essentials

Water purification tablets, blister care, snacks, a head torch, and cash. ATMs exist in Namche but are unreliable.

04

Keep Cash for Local Use

Namche has limited card facilities. Carry Nepali Rupees for lodges, food, permits, and local purchases en route.

05

Allow Acclimatisation Time

Do not rush through Namche. A minimum of two nights here is strongly recommended before heading higher.
